Description_

The design of the new hospitality retreat stems from a reflection on the relationship between architecture, landscape and identity. The site is located among the rolling hills of Manoppello, in the province of Pescara, where the Abruzzese landscape unfolds in its entirety. The new development is conceived as a cluster of buildings emerging from the ground, seeking to reinterpret traditional local themes: on one hand, the earthen houses historically characteristic of this territory; on the other, the distinctive urban morphology of Italian hill towns, defined by sequences of spatial compression and expansion.

The buildings are arranged around a central open space. Just as in a traditional settlement where architecture gathers around the main public realm, the volumes of the hospitality complex are organised around an external piazza, which becomes the social and spatial heart of the project.

The programme is articulated through five principal “Rooms”:

01_The Room of Quietness – conceived as an independent guest suite, comprising a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and direct access to a private terrace.

02_The Room of Gathering – arranged over two levels, with two guest bedrooms on the upper floor and a shared living area with kitchen on the ground floor.

03_The Room of Wellbeing – accommodating the reception area together with an intimate space dedicated to personal care and wellness.

04_The Room of Water – defined by an open-air volume containing the swimming pool; a natural environment where water and planted areas coexist in balance.

05_The Room of Discovery – conceived as a landmark element, offering visitors elevated views across the surrounding landscape.

Timber, stone and earth establish the architectural language of the Rooms, characterised by tactile surfaces and chromatic tones that echo those of the site, maintaining a continuous dialogue with the surrounding agricultural landscape. The project seeks to innovate through tradition, avoiding both nostalgic mimicry and formal self-referentiality, while restoring architecture’s profound connection to place. The result is an architecture of restraint and measured expression, deeply integrated within its context.  Le Stanze becomes a built narrative in which architecture reveals the landscape that hosts it, transforming it into a shared experience and generating enduring cultural and environmental value.
